Concrete Retaining Walls
Hold the hill back. Gain usable yard.
Sloping blocks are common across the Gold Coast hinterland and canal estates. We build reinforced block and concrete retaining walls with proper footings and drainage, turning steep ground into flat, usable space that stays put.

Concrete Retaining Walls questions, answered
Does my retaining wall need approval?
Walls over 1 m high, or close to boundaries and structures, typically need engineering and approval. We’ll advise and work with your engineer.
Why is drainage so important?
Water pressure behind a wall is the main cause of failure. Ag-line drainage and free-draining backfill let water escape before it builds up.
What height can I build without an engineer?
In Queensland, retaining walls over 1 m high, or close to a boundary or building, usually need engineering and approval. We check your wall height and location at the site measure and tell you which applies.
Which wall type suits a sloping Gold Coast block?
Core-filled concrete block is the most common for permanent walls. Formed concrete suits curved or architectural walls. Concrete sleepers with steel posts are quick for low walls.
Can a retaining wall be rendered or painted?
Yes. Core-filled block walls are often rendered, or bagged and painted, to match the house. We leave the face ready for your renderer or painter.
