Polished Concrete

A floor that gets better with age.

Polished concrete is ground with progressively finer diamonds until the surface itself shines — no coating to peel. It’s cool in summer, easy to clean and ideal for open-plan coastal homes, showrooms and cafés. We polish new slabs and suitable existing ones.

Often chosen with honed concrete, grind & seal concrete, burnished concrete.

Polished Concrete questions, answered

Can my existing floor be polished?

Often, yes — once tiles, glue and coatings are removed. We test grind first to see what the slab will look like before you commit.

Is polished concrete slippery?

Dry polished concrete has good grip. For wet areas or outdoors we recommend honed or grind-and-seal with anti-slip.

What sheen levels are available for polished concrete?

From a low matte to a high gloss. Gloss comes from grinding with finer and finer diamond grits, then densifying the surface. Matte finishes hide scratches best in busy homes.

How do I clean polished concrete?

Sweep or vacuum, then damp-mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid acidic or citrus cleaners, which can etch the surface, and wipe up spills such as wine or oil quickly.

Is polished concrete good for homes with dogs?

Yes. It doesn’t trap hair or smells, and claws won’t scratch it the way they scratch timber. A matte or satin finish hides scuffs best.
