Excavation & Site Preparation
Good concrete starts with good dirt work.
Most concrete failures start below the surface. We excavate, level, compact and prepare sub-bases for slabs, driveways and paving — with our own machines, so the people preparing the ground are the people pouring on it.
Often chosen with house slabs, concrete removal & demolition, concrete foundations & footings.

Excavation & Site Preparation questions, answered
Do you do excavation without concrete?
Yes, although most of our site prep is ahead of our own pours. We’ll happily quote excavation and levelling on its own.
What if the soil is poor?
Soft or organic soil is removed and replaced with compacted roadbase. We’ll explain any extra work before it happens.
What is a site cut?
A site cut levels a sloping block for a slab. Soil is cut from the high side and placed or removed on the low side, leaving a flat, compacted pad at the right height.
How is the ground compacted?
We compact road base in layers with a plate or roller compactor, and wet it to the right moisture. Good compaction stops slabs settling and cracking later.
Can you remove spoil from site?
Yes. Excess soil and rubble are loaded and trucked off. Clean fill can sometimes be reused on site for landscaping to reduce disposal.
