Power Float Finish
Big slabs, finished fast and flat.
Power floating uses ride-on or walk-behind machines to float and trowel large concrete slabs evenly and quickly. It produces a flat, compact surface ideal for warehouses, sheds, commercial floors and house slabs that will be tiled, polished or coated.
Often chosen with steel trowel finish, burnished concrete, industrial concrete floors.

Power Float Finish questions, answered
Is power floating only for commercial jobs?
No. We use power floats on most larger residential slabs too — house slabs, sheds and garages — for a flatter, more consistent finish.
What’s the difference from burnishing?
Burnishing is power floating taken further with extra trowel passes to create a sheen.
What does a power float do?
A power float is a petrol-driven machine with rotating blades. It flattens and closes the surface of large slabs quickly and evenly, which is hard to do by hand over big areas.
When does a slab need power floating?
Large slabs such as sheds, warehouses and house slabs, where an even, flat surface is needed across a wide area before steel trowelling or burnishing.
Does power floating make the slab stronger?
It doesn’t change the concrete’s strength, but it compacts the top surface. That makes it denser and more wear-resistant than a hand-finished slab.
