Plain Concrete

No frills. No shortcuts.

Plain concrete is the most cost-effective way to get a strong, durable surface — and on the Gold Coast it’s the workhorse of side paths, shed slabs, bin pads and budget driveways. We give it the same sub-base, steel and joint care as any decorative job.

Often chosen with concrete driveways, concrete footpaths & pathways, concrete slabs.

Plain Concrete questions, answered

Should plain concrete be sealed?

It isn’t essential, but a penetrating sealer helps resist oil, mould and stains — especially on driveways.

Can I colour it later?

Plain concrete can be coated or resurfaced later, but colour-through concrete is more durable if you think you’ll want colour.

Where is plain concrete the right choice?

Sheds, side paths, bin areas, rural driveways and anything that will be covered later by tiles, pavers or a coating. It gives the full strength of concrete without decorative work.

Will plain concrete look patchy?

Fresh grey concrete often dries unevenly for the first few weeks. It evens out as it cures, and a clear penetrating sealer helps it weather to a consistent tone.

Can plain concrete be upgraded later?

Yes. A sound plain slab can later be resurfaced with a spray-on or stencil coating, ground and sealed, or coated with epoxy, so it is a good starting point on a tight budget.
